ポンメガネと澤口眼鏡舎 PonMegane Lab.カラーのセルロイド

川越に店舗兼工房を構え、オーダーメイドのメガネフレームを制作している「澤口眼鏡舎」さんとともに考えたプロダクトが完成しました。ポンメガネ浦和にて販売を行います。

フレームのデザインが2型でそれぞれ3色の展開。
すべて異なる「張り合わせのセルロイド生地」を用いた一点のみの製品となります。

素材や構造など、ちょっと踏み込んだプロダクトを研究・提案します。

The product we came up with together with Sawaguchi Meganesha, a company with a store and workshop in Kawagoe that produces custom-made eyeglass frames, has been completed.

We will be selling at PonMeganeURAWA.

The frame has 2 designs, each available in 3 colors. This is a one-of-a-kind product that uses different [celluloid material].

発端は昨年の春頃に澤口さんからお声がけいただきました。

対話を重ね、徐々にイメージが具現化したのが2023年の秋でした。それはSILMO PARISの買付から戻ってきた頃だったと記憶しています。

clementやAUDE HEROUARDなど想像以上に現地で見たセルフレームのデザインが良くて、まだまだセルに可能性があるという印象が強くあったこと。
と同時に、磨きやディテールなど最終仕上げが微妙なブランドも多かったこと。単色の生地ばかりで、少し味気ないという感覚があったこと。

今思い返せば経験したてのリアルな感覚によって、今作っている製品が良いものであるという確証につながりました。

そんな流れで「すごく良いのでこれでいきましょう！」と本制作を澤口さんにお願いしました。

It all started when Mr. Sawaguchi approached me around spring last year.

After repeated conversations, the image gradually materialized in the fall of 2023. I remember that it was around the time I returned from purchasing SILMO PARIS.

The designs of the Acetate frames I saw on site, such as [Clement] and [AUDE HEROUARD], were better than I expected, and I was left with a strong impression that resin materials still have potential.

At the same time, there were many brands that had delicate final finishes such as polishing and details.

The fabrics were all monochromatic, giving the impression of a lack of complexity. On the other hand, I realized that patterned items were too barbaric and there was no in-between.

Looking back now, the real feeling I had just experienced confirmed to me that the product I was currently making was a good one.

In that vein, I asked Mr. Sawaguchi to produce this project, saying, [It’s really good, so let’s go with it!]

今回のプロジェクトでは2つの要素を武器とする製品をつくることにしました。

1) 魅力的なセルフレームをつくること。
2) 澤口さんの大きな魅力の一つである「磨き」の技術を活かすこと。

素材はセルロイド生地を用いることがすんなりと決まりました。扱いが難しいのですが、密度が高く硬い素材のためアセテートよりも磨き上げるという点で秀逸な仕上がりが期待できます。

それとともに、2色のセルロイド生地を張り合わせた、独自の生地を生産して使用することが決まりました。これはポンメガネで数百本の販売履歴があるフレンチビンテージの経験に端を発しました。盲点でしたが、経験値としてこれまでに見て触れてきた「美しい」と感じたセルフレームと「張り合わせ生地」がかなりの頻度でマッチしていたことにもこの最初のタイミングで気づきました。
澤口さんの尽力により、テンプルまで「張り合わせ生地」という素材も1個単位で独自に作成できることがわかり、フロントもテンプルも同じ色であわせた「張り合わせ生地」でのみ生産することができました。

いろんな条件が集まった結果、素材そのものの美しさに「澤口眼鏡舎 」さんの研ぎ上げが加わったら、凄いことになりそうだ！という実感とともにプロジェクトがいつの間にか始まっていました。

For this project, we decided to create a product that has two elements as its weapons.

Making frames using beautiful colored materials.
One of Mr. Sawaguchi’s great charms is to make use of his “polishing” skills.

Therefore, it was decided to use celluloid as the material. Because it is a hard material, it can be polished more beautifully than acetate.

In addition, by producing laminated fabrics, we use colors that have nuances that go beyond the image of a single color.
This is based on our experience with French Vintage, which has a history of selling hundreds of glasses at Pon Megane.
Although it is brown, there is blue on the back, giving it an ash tone overall, and pink on the back indirectly creates a gorgeous atmosphere.

It was a blind spot, but at this point I also realized that the cell frames, which I felt were beautiful based on my experience, often matched with the laminated fabrics.

If Mr.Sawaguchi’s polishing techniques are applied to the beauty of the material itself, an amazing product will be created!

That’s how the project slowly began.

ポンメガネと澤口眼鏡舎の今回の試みは、別注でもコラボレーションでもなく、共に作り上げる「DUET」と言う関係性として澤口眼鏡舎さんより命名されています。

This attempt by PonMegane and Sawaguchimeganesha is neither a special order nor a collaboration, but is named by Sawaguchi Meganesha as a relationship called [ DUET ] created together.
